Over the past two years, Dionicio has made an extraordinary impact on the players, families, coaches, and broader community at Gorge Soccer Association. His commitment extends far beyond coaching a single team. He has become a cornerstone of our player development pathway, working with athletes of all ages and abilities while creating an environment where every player feels valued, supported, and inspired to improve.
Dionicio is involved in nearly every aspect of our technical programming. He serves as our goalkeeper coach, delivering weekly goalkeeper training sessions and weekend goalkeeper academies. Dionicio is also playing a key role in our small-group training sessions, with a particular emphasis on agility, balance, coordination, and athletic development. His passion for helping players reach their potential is evident in every session he delivers.
Perhaps the greatest example of his coaching excellence is his volunteer work with our 2008 Boys team. Under Dionicio’s leadership, the group has achieved back-to-back Provincial Championships—winning the B Cup before progressing to capture the A Cup the following season. While these accomplishments are impressive, the true measure of his success lies in the culture he has built. He has created a genuine family environment where players support one another, work hard for each other, and develop not only as footballers but as young people..
What makes Dionicio truly exceptional is the depth of experience he brings to youth soccer. As a Mexican A Licence coach with 27 years of professional coaching experience with Cruz Azul in Mexico’s top professional division, he possesses world-class knowledge. Yet despite his impressive résumé, he remains humble, approachable, and deeply invested in every player he coaches. He shares his expertise freely with fellow coaches, mentors staff, and continuously raises the standard of coaching throughout our club.
For his exceptional leadership, unwavering dedication, outstanding player development, and immeasurable contribution to the Gorge Soccer community, Dionicio Garcia Romero was awarded the 2026 LISA Coach of the Year Award!
