Who is Lower Island Soccer Association?
The Lower Island Soccer Association (LISA) is a key organization in the framework that enables and governs youth soccer on southern Vancouver Island. LISA is a district member of BC Soccer, itself a member of Canada Soccer and as such represents this district. As a member of BC Soccer LISA has a responsibility to follow the policies and rules established by BC Soccer, Canada Soccer and ultimately FIFA.
LISA accomplishes that by administering the rules and regulations of youth soccer (players aged 18 and under) for its 11 Member Club Associations and provides the league infrastructure within which youth soccer is played in the district. LISA ensures the district rules are consistent with the rules and regulations of BC Soccer and Canada Soccer. LISA also plays a leadership role with the its members and with adult leagues in the delivery of soccer programs and the governance, facilities, officiating and scheduling necessary to play the beautiful game at all levels.
The 11 member clubs’ extend from Duncan and the Cowichan Valley in the north, to the Western Communities and Sooke in the west, to Salt Spring Island and the outer Gulf Islands and Thetis Island in the East. The district also administers an Island wide Tier 2 league, run in conjunction with Upper Island Soccer Association (UISA).
The LISA district has a volunteer Board of Directors with specific roles of President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and Risk Management Officer as well as other directors at large. The district also has staff including a full-time Executive Director who operates out of the soccer office.
Position Description:
Reporting to the Executive Director the Administrative Assistant will provide general administrative support to LISA’s programs within a high-paced work environment. This part time position will provide flexible working hours and work-from-home opportunities in the range of 15-20 hours per week during the soccer season (August-June). The Administrative Assistant works across many projects to provide support to various LISA leagues, programs, and initiatives while ensuring that communications to key stakeholders are efficient on behalf of the organization.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Responds to both internal and external requests for information (via telephone and email)
- Manages and updates electronic databases (Registration and Discipline) and uploads registration data to BCSA via a CRM system
- Populates LISA’s website, including posting information bulletins, schedules, and contact information
- Supports LISA Discipline process by tracking league discipline, scheduling discipline hearings, prepare materials, and record minutes (twice per month during the season)
- Provides support to the application of LISA leagues, Cup Play, and various programing
- Drafts various forms of communications to provide information to member clubs and participants via email, newsletter, and LISA’s social media channels
- Attends LISA festivals as required (5-6 weekend days per year)
- Additional duties as requested
Job Requirements:

Qualifications:
- A certificate or diploma in business or sport administration or related field from a recognized institution; or equivalent work experience would be considered an asset
- Exceptional verbal, written and interpersonal communications skills
- Advanced user of Microsoft Outlook with proficient skills in Excel and Word
- Experience with WordPress (website) and PowerUp (registration) systems an asset
- Background or experience in sports, physical education or sports administration.
- Strong understanding of the structure of youth soccer in British Columbia and Canada an asset
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment where flexibility, strong internal communication and anticipating needs is essential
Working Hours:
- Employee is expected to work 15-20 hours per week during the soccer season, mid-August through June, and limited hours during the summer months.
- The LISA Office hours of operation are typically 10:00am-5:00pm, Monday to Friday during the soccer season and 10:00am-3:30pm during the summer months.
- Employee hours may be flexible and work-from-home opportunities are available for some aspects of the job requirements.
- The employee typically works 2-3 evenings a month from September to March and one evening per month from April to August (attending and recording minutes).
- The dates and times for weekend festivals are typically the same dates from year to year and can be planned around.
Compensation: $22.00-$27.00 per hour
